Education Jargon Explained

Whatever your interest in schools, be it as a parent, teacher, governor, or any other role, there will be phrases, abbreviations and terminology that you do not understand.

As teachers, we are great at using ‘teacher-language’, so here’s a guide for anyone to help you out.  Use the links for further explanations.

  • AHT – Assistant Headteacher
  • AOB – Any Other Business

  • Top Slice – Take part of a budget or fund and allocate it to finance a specific project, service, etc.
