Build positive relationships with parents

As part of my top tips for Secondary teachers converting to Primary teaching.

Tip #1 is to build positive relationships with parents

Speak to a different parent at the end of every day – invite them into your classroom, show them some good work, focus on positives.  Keep a list of the parents you have spoken to so that you know you’ve spoken to everyone – with a class of 30 children, you’ll get through them all once every 6 weeks.

This goes down so much better than calling parents in every time something is wrong.
